Recent updates to Canada’s COVID-19 travel restrictions &
immigration policies

By July 5 th 2021, Canada plans to end the mandatory 14-day quarantine
requirement for fully vaccinated travellers entering Canada, but there will
still be special measures in place. This will only apply to travellers who
are “currently permitted to enter Canada.” By this move Canada’s
borders remain closed to the vast majority of foreign nationals.
Exemptions to be able to enter the country are:
❖ Canadian citizens
❖ Permanent residents
❖ Essential travellers.
Fully vaccinated travellers will still have to undergo some testing. The
testing requirements are:
❖ A negative PCR test taken within 72 hours pre-departure
❖ A COVID-19 test upon arrival in Canada.
No quarantine is required while awaiting the test results, but all travellers
should still have a quarantine plan ready, in case it is determined at the
border all necessary requirements are not met by them.
Before travelling to Canada, proof of vaccination to be submitted through
the ArriveCAN app by the travellers. Only vaccines on the list approved
by Health Canada are eligible for this exemption.
